Another Fabulous Qoute

"Children rank way below college. Below world travel for sure. Below the ability to go out at night at your leisure. Below honing your body at the gym. Below any job you may have or hope to get. In fact, children rate below your desire to sit around and pick your toes, if that is what you want to do. Below everything. Children are the last thing you should ever spend your time doing.

If you grew up in this culture, it is very hard to get a biblical perspective on motherhood, to think like a free Christian woman about your life, your children. How much have we listened to partial truths and half lies? Do we believe that we want children because there is some biological urge, or the phantom “baby itch”? Are we really in this because of cute little clothes and photo opportunities? Is motherhood a rock-bottom job for those who can’t do more, or those who are satisfied with drudgery? If so, what were we thinking?

It's Not a Hobby

Motherhood is not a hobby, it is a calling. You do not collect children because you find them cuter than stamps. It is not something to do if you can squeeze the time in.

It is what God gave you time for."

Have you Tried?

Have you tried?
President Porter (Morgan’s Stake President) came to our Reliefs Society a few weeks ago and forever changed my life. He gave us a message that every Woman in the church needs to hear! I just hope I can do his talk Justice.... I promised the other ladies in the primary presidency a full report so here goes.

2 Nephi 25:23  -  For we labor diligently to write to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by
-GRACE- that we are saved, after all we can do.

Do you ever ask yourself the questions “Am I enough?” “Am I doing enough for my family” “Am I doing enough for my church calling?” “Am I going to the temple enough?” “Do I read my scriptures enough?”… Etc. etc. etc. If your a woman you know exactly what I am talking about here.

Do you know the Definition of GRACE.. If you look in the bible dictionary there are many definitions to Grace as it relates to the atonement but my favorite one is this Divine Help Enabling Power!! Grace means that I can do whatever seems impossible to do in my life; all because I know that I have a Savior. On the opposite side of the coin there is a Satan who’s  best tactic he has against us is to whisper in our ear that we don’t measure up, that were not good enough.

President Porter's message that day was not “Do the best that you can every single day of your life!” His message was much simpler and it was this:
HAVE YOU TRIED TODAY?
Because no matter how hard we try we will never be good enough.. Can you read your scriptures enough? Can you go to the temple everyday and have it be enough? Can you make healthy meals for your children and play with them 3 hours a day and have it be enough? The answer in simply a big fat NO! But can you try every day of your life... Absolutely YES!!

The only way we are going to find relief in this life is when we fall to our knees and say “I NEED HELP” we find Grace Everyday when we just TRY!  Did you try today? .. well when you lie down in bed at night feel good about yourself knowing that you did take time to pray, you read your scriptures for 10 minutes and you tried today to be a good mom. Because in the end if you can look at your Father in Heaven and say “I really Tired” then by our Saviors Grace you will know that he can and does make up the difference!  My Prayer to  Women everywhere is to move forward in faith knowing that as long as we try our Savior's GRACE is Sufficient!
Love to all – MEGAN
